Opinion Article from a Multilingual Perspective: a Didactic Proposal for Approaching Environmental Issues in Current Argentina
Keywords:

The main objective of this paper is to present the general guidelines of the didactic sequence entitled "Man and the Environment. Proposals for Addressing the Opinion Article Genre," which arose from the actions carried out by the InterRom research team at the Faculty of Languages (UNC). The didactic material developed is proposed as a contextualized critical alternative for addressing environmental issues in the language teaching/learning process from a multilingual perspective (Candelier, 2007) anchored in the study of textual genres. In particular, the designed sequence aims to contribute to the development of language skills linked to the opinion article genre in students belonging to secondary educational institutions in Argentina, bringing into debate the ecological limits of economic growth and some economic and social aspects of development (Gudynas, 2012). Specifically, this didactic proposal addresses (neo)extractive activities such as the use of agrochemicals, deforestation in the province of Córdoba, fracking in Vaca Muerta, open-pit mining in northwestern Argentina, and sheep production in Patagonia. The opinion piece is addressed based on its specificities as a textual genre (Riestra, 2014; Schneuwly, 1997; Bronckart, 2004, 2007), and the argumentation, in light of the theoretical and methodological assumptions developed by Plantin (2011).
