This work shows progress in basic studies on Remote Sensing Devices (RSDs) in the measurement of wind resource, implementation aspects of a demonstrative prototype to analyze its operating principles and progress in the installation of a recently acquired commercial Lidar equipment. The current technologies, the configurations that would be applicable to a significant number of measurement systems in the southern Patagonia area, and the advances to date in prototype components are shown. Progress and requirements in the installation of the commercial system that will allow improvements in the precision and quality of measurements are also described. This instrument will allow the validation and contrast of the results obtained with conventional methods, offering new perspectives in the characterization of the region's wind potential.
