Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explore the spatial-temporal depth of a sector of the Güemes neighborhood (Córdoba) where a new real estate project is currently under construction, in an area that was populated until the end of the 1990s by villa El Pocito, and until the mid-1940s by the La Cañada stream. Around this place where new constructions, ruins and absences coexist, we ask ourselves what memories and temporalities emerge among the different materialities and absences that cross this place, what do they tell us about those who gave life to this space in the past through their relationships and activities, and what do they reveal about the present? From a perspective that connects ethnography and archaeology, I will use the material collected and produced in a collective project on the history and transformations in this neighborhood, which included the collection and classification of current and old photographs; the consultation of local oral archives; the realization of photographic tours through the sector and interviews with neighbors.
